NO - I do not want to get engaged anytime soon
NO - I'm not jealous of people who are
YES - I like shiny things..like rocks and what shinier thing is out there other than the engagement ring. AMIRIGHT?
so when I was looking at this site my friend's fiance had ordered his ring for her..cause well her ring was shiny and very pretty I had to find out ! lol and i like to procastinate..what better than to look at *SPARKLY* things ..
mmmm Shineeeeeee ! |
As you know, me and Mathelly have always swooned over the Classic Tiffany's Setting
ohhh Shinnnyyyy |
Sadly, there are limitations to this setting....I've come to the realization that prices go WAY up way fast as you go from 1 ct to 1.5 ct. (you're looking at like going from 5-10 grand for that half carat up)
HOWEVER.... SIZE does make a difference lol.
what a 1ct looks like on a hand - eesh kinda small! lol |
1.5 ct |
2 ct |
Unfortunately with a 1 ct ring with the classic 3 prong setting...the diamond looks...rather small. Esp if you add a wedding band next to it.
Here is ..in real life what a 0.94 ct classic setting looks like.
kinda...undramatic no? def not as stunning as the photoshopped tiffany's stock photo
I think inorder for the Classic Tiffany's setting to stand out, it needs a big rock (at least 1.5ct) to make it a "statement'. The 1ct just doesn't cut it.

but...add a lil sparkle to it ....
Same size diamond...but doesn't it look bigger? I think its the affect of the smaller ones around it.
add even MORE sparkle around it..

Dang! look at that thing, its still a 1 ct diamond but it looks so much..um bigger o_O
This has opened my eyes to a world of choices! I think this look still holds the very "classic" look but really up's the ante from plain jane to BAM!
If you're bored and like to look at sparkly things like me..visit www.bluenile.com and play around with the design your own ring options..see pricing , sizing, and real ring pictures !
some other non-traditional styles I'm loving:
and look at these series of ornate crowns , simple from the top but intricate details on a profile view.
that's enough sparkly for a day no? lol
Those are my thoughts EXACTLY about the Tiffany's engagement rings! The setting seems to engulf the diamond... requiring a larger diamond for more bling effect... but as you said, the price jumps are insane! And yes, I agree that size makes a difference haha.. the thickness of the band really affects how the diamond looks also. Your friend's engagement ring looks pretty =)
ReplyDeleteCheck out the hearts on fire website. My sister got her ring from there. Lol I'm not a diamond person but after seeing my sister's I can't help it but want one!!! Haha it looks like you been doing your research Bianca! From magazines and such, I want a cushioned canary yellow diamond. From what I heard, Tiffanys is overrated. You can find a much better quality diamond and band at much friendlier prices. Tiffanys is just for the name.
ReplyDeleteO_O oooooo, Shiny!! Hahah, I laughed at that drawn picture of the ring comparisons for some reason. I thought the comparison of the 3 styles side by side was really interesting. Ah, one day...
